Codes of Conduct

We at Integrity Martial Arts have four Code of conduct policies that all our Instructors sign up to and take very seriously. Please click on any of the policies below to find out more.

Code of Conduct for Instructors and Volunteers

AS AN INSTRUCTOR OR VOLUNTEER WITH INTEGRITY MARTIAL ARTS, PLEASE:

  • Implement our safeguarding policy and procedures;
  • Report any concerns about, or allegations of abuse or poor practice to our Welfare and Child Protection Officer. The Integrity WCPO is Malcolm Jones – contact number 07949 567156;
  • Listen to any concerns that students or parents may have;
  • Consider your behaviour — do not engage in any behaviour that constitutes any form of abuse;
  • Respect your position of trust, and maintain appropriate boundaries and relationships with young people;
  • Demonstrate and uphold the tenets of Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-control and Indomitable Spirit;
  • Keep any coaching, safeguarding and First Aid training up to date;
  • Ensure the appropriate legal clearance and insurance is in place;
  • Ensure understanding of relevant legislation;
  • Ensure that licences are renewed on time;
  • Keep students in your sessions safe by supervising appropriately, using safe methods and techniques, and by putting students’ safety first;
  • Be aware of training methods and techniques that are unsuitable for young people, and adapt accordingly;
  • Be sensitive to the needs and concerns of students when supervising paired or group exercises;
  • Make sure you have appropriate ratios of Instructors/Assistant Instructors to participants before the session begins;
  • Ensure equipment is fit for purpose, safe to use and accessible;
  • Respect students’ trust and rights whilst being honest and open with them;
  • Champion everyone’s right to take part and celebrate difference in our group by not discriminating against anyone, regardless of gender, race, age, sexual orientation or ability;
  • Stop play if an injury happens, administer minor first aid and call for help when necessary – ensure that all injuries are recorded in the accident book;
  • Use constructive and positive methods of developing students’ skills, without humiliating or harming them;
  • Behave appropriately online in accordance with positively representing Integrity Martial Arts;
  • Challenge and address instances of poor, negative, aggressive or bullying behaviour amongst all students;
  • Lead by example when it comes to good sportsmanship, etiquette, positive behaviour and commitment to martial arts;
  • Develop positive relationships with parents/carers, and update them regularly about their child’s development;
  • Make Integrity Martial Arts a friendly and welcoming place to be.

AS AN INSTRUCTOR OR VOLUNTEER, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO:

  • Enjoy the time you spend with the group and be supported in your role;
  • Be informed of our safeguarding and reporting procedures, and what you need to do if something isn’t right;
  • Have access to ongoing training in all aspects of your role;
  • Be listened to, be involved and contribute towards decisions within the group;
  • Be respected and treated fairly;
  • Feel welcomed, valued and not judged based on your race, gender, age, sexuality or ability;
  • Be protected from physical or emotional abuse from students or parents, and be supported to resolve conflicts.
Code of Conduct for Students (Adults)

AS A MEMBER OF INTEGRITY MARTIAL ARTS, PLEASE:

The Essentials:

  • Be responsible for your own safety;
  • Promote and demonstrate the tenets of Courtesy, Integrity,
  • Perseverance, Self-Control and Indomitable Spirit;
  • Look after equipment and premises as if they were your own;
  • Make it to classes and gradings on time;
  • Bring the right kit to class and make sure your dobok or kickboxing uniform is clean;
  • Maintain personal hygiene and cleanliness;
  • Make sure any loose jewellery is removed and earrings and rings are either removed or covered with tape;
  • Not smoke or consume alcohol on the premises or during classes, gradings, competitions or when representing us;
  • Be mindful of the reputation of the group and act to positively promote and represent Integrity Martial Arts;
  • Refrain from any antisocial or illegal behaviour either during group activities or in your own time;
  • Be aware that the effects of illegal drug taking exhibited at any Integrity event will not be tolerated.

Behaviour:

  • Respect and celebrate difference in our group, and not discriminate against anyone else on the grounds of gender, age, race, sexual orientation or ability;
  • Report any incidents of bullying, including homophobia and transphobia even if you’re just a witness;
  • Treat other students with respect and appreciate that everyone has different levels of skill and talent;
  • Make Integrity Martial Arts a welcoming and friendly place to be;
  • Support and encourage your fellow students;
  • Respect your Instructors, and the Instructors and students from other clubs;
  • Be a good sport and demonstrate appropriate etiquette;
  • Play by the rules;
  • Follow our safety policies.

AS A STUDENT, WE UNDERSTAND YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO:

  • Enjoy classes, gradings and other events as a member of the Integrity family;
  • Be aware who you can talk to if something’s not right and be listened to;
  • Know who the Integrity Welfare and Child Protection Officer is and have their contact details – the Integrity WCPO is Malcolm Jones 07949 567156;
  • See any of our policies and procedures at any time;
  • Know what training, qualifications and checks our Instructors have;
  • Have your consent sought for anything outside of our initial consent form, such as permission to film or photography;
  • Be respected by Instructors and other students and be treated fairly;
  • Feel welcomed, valued and not judged based on your race, gender, age, sexuality or ability;
  • Be encouraged, supported and develop skills with our help;
  • Be looked after if there’s an accident or injury and have a contact informed if necessary.
Code of Conduct for Students (Young People)

AS A YOUNGER MEMBER OF INTEGRITY MARTIAL ARTS, WE’D LIKE YOU TO:

The Essentials:

  • Keep yourself safe by listening to your Instructor, behaving responsibly and speak out when something isn’t right;
  • When you’re with us, stay in the places where you’re supposed to be, don’t wander off or leave without telling your Instructor;
  • Take care of our equipment and premises as if they were your own;
  • Make it to classes and gradings on time;
  • Bring the right kit to class and make sure your dobok or kickboxing uniform is clean;
  • Not smoke or consume alcohol or drugs on our premises or during classes, competitions or when representing us;
  • Don’t get involved in any antisocial or illegal behaviour either in or outside of the group.

Behaviour:

  • Respect and celebrate difference in our group or activity and not discriminate against anyone else on the grounds of gender, age, race, sexual orientation or ability;
  • Report any incidents of bullying to an Instructor, even if you’re just a witness;
  • Treat other students with respect and appreciate that everyone has different levels of skill and talent;
  • Make Integrity Martial Arts a welcoming and friendly place to be;
  • Support and encourage your fellow students. Tell them when they’ve done well and help them when they’re struggling;
  • Respect your Instructors, and the Instructors and students from other groups;
  • Be a good sport, celebrate when we win and be gracious when we lose;
  • Play by the rules and have fun;
  • Follow our safety policies.

AS A YOUNG PERSON TAKING PART, WE UNDERSTAND YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO:

  • Enjoy the time you spend with us and know that you’re safe;
  • Be told who you can talk to if something’s not right and be listened to;
  • Know who the Welfare and Child Protection Officer is and their contact details – the Integrity WCPO is Malcolm Jones 07949 567156;
  • Be respected by us and other students and be treated fairly;
  • Feel welcomed, valued and not judged based on your race, age, gender, sexuality or ability;
  • Be encouraged and develop skills with our help;
  • Be looked after if there’s an accident or injury and have your parents informed if needed.
Code of Conduct for Parents and Carers

Note: Where we refer to ‘parents’ we mean parents and carers inclusively. The term ‘children’ or ‘child’ describes any person under the age of 18.

AS A PARENT OF A YOUNGER MEMBER OF INTEGRITY MARTIAL ARTS, WE’D LIKE YOU TO:

The essentials:

  • Make sure your child has the correct and clean kit for the session as well as enough food and drink;
  • Try to make sure your child arrives to classes on time and is picked up promptly; or let us know if you’re running late or if your child is going home with someone else;
  • Complete all consent, contact and medical forms and update us straight away if anything changes;
  • Make sure your child wears any protective kit;
  • Make sure any loose jewellery is removed and earrings and rings are either removed or covered with tape;
  • Make sure your child maintains personal hygiene and cleanliness;
  • Maintain a good relationship with your child’s Instructor, and catch up with them as much as you can about your child’s development;
  • Talk to us if you have any concerns about any part of your child’s involvement — we want to hear from you.

Behaviour:

  • Try and learn about your child’s chosen martial art and what it means to them;
  • Remember that children get a wide range of benefits from participating in martial arts, like making friends, getting exercise and developing skills and self-discipline: it’s not all about wins and losses;
  • Lead by example when it comes to positive behaviour on the sidelines;
  • Use social media responsibly when talking about what goes on in our group;
  • Talk to your child about embracing good etiquette and sportsmanship;
  • Encourage your child to practice at home and to prepare for gradings;
  • Ensure that your child understands their code of conduct.

AS A PARENT, WE UNDERSTAND YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO:

  • Be assured that your child is safeguarded during their time with us;
  • See any of our policies and procedures at any time;
  • Know who the Welfare and Child Protection Officer is and have their contact details – the Integrity WCPO is Malcolm Jones 07949 567156;
  • Know what training, qualifications and checks our Instructors have;
  • Be informed of problems or concerns relating to your child;
  • Know what happens if there’s an accident or injury, be informed if your child is injured and see records of any accidents;
  • Have your consent sought for anything outside of our initial consent form, such as permission to film or photography;
  • Have any concerns about any aspect of your child’s welfare listened to and responded to.
